Students in the Pre-Med program take basic science and other courses that will satisfy most of the requirements for admission to schools of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, physical therapy, optometry, physicians assistant and others.
Graduates transfer to universities and complete the requirements necessary to apply to professional schools. It may require only a few additional courses (as in pharmacy and dentistry) or two years to complete a BS degree before application (the norm for medical school admissions).
NEO graduates have been successful in being admitted to schools of pharmacy, medicine, optometry, physical therapy, physicians assistant and others, both in Oklahoma and other states.
The specific course requirements vary, depending on which school a student plans to attend after NEO and the professional college they plan to apply to; therefore, an advisor will assist them to assure they select the courses that best fit their needs.
Natural Science faculty also advise students who are interested in pursuing other related careers. These include dental hygiene, radiology technologist (x-ray techs), mortuary science, chiropractic, forensics, etc. These students are advised to take courses at NEO that satisfy the requirement for the program in which they plan to apply.
