Obtaining a GED certificate can serve many purposes and expand opportunities. If you are interested in enrolling in college classes at NEO and/or applying for federal financial aid, contact the testing center at 918-540-6242 or 1-888-GO-GO-NEO to learn about the Ability to Benefit (ATB) test which is a free test that does not require prior registration. The ATB test is a more logical option for many of our prospective college students. If you desire to take the GED examination or a GED retest at NEO, you must be a resident of Oklahoma.
Application Process:
If this will be your first time to take the test, you will need to visit the Center for Academic Success and Advisement to complete an application. *The State requires that the application be completed in person at an authorized testing site. If you would like to complete the application beforehand, you may do so as long as you come in person to turn it in. There is a link to the application form on the left side of the screen. You will also need to present an official photo identification such as a drivers license. There is a $10.00 non-refundable application fee that is payable in the NEO business office beforehand. The business office is located in the lobby of the Library Administration building. The Center for Academic Success and Advisement is located in the first floor lobby of Dyer Hall. You must be at least 16 years of age to take the GED. If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you will also need to submit a release form. There is a link to that form on the left side of the screen as well. Please note that both signatures need to be notarized on the release form. Please call 918-540-6242 or 1-888-GO-GO-NEO for more information about that form. Your application will be sent to the Oklahoma Department of Education for approval. When approval is granted, you will receive a letter informing you that you may pay for the test. The $10 application fee is applied to the total fee for the test which is $75.00. As soon as you remit the remaining $65.00 portion to the NEO business office, you must contact the Testing Center to confirm an appointment for our next test date. Space is limited and prior confirmation is required. Payment for the application and/or test can also be made by credit or debit card by calling 1-888-GO-GO-NEO and asking for the business office. If a third party will pay for your test, you must bring a letter or invoice from that organization to the Testing Center to confirm a testing appointment. You must also visit the testing center prior to the test to complete a demographic (personal information) form that will require approximately 30 minutes of your time. If you are not able to visit the testing center during day time business hours before your test to complete any of the prior steps, please call 918-540-6242 or 1-888-GO-GO-NEO to make other arrangements.
If you have taken the GED before in Oklahoma or any other state and you desire to retest, call 918-540-6242 or 1-888-GO-GO-NEO for pricing information and to schedule a test date.
Schedule:
The NEO testing center offers the GED test approximately once per calendar month. The exam is administered in one full day and you will be given short breaks throughout the day along with a break for lunch.
