NEO Press Releases

25

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced that Dustin Grover will co-chair the NEO Norse Stars Steering Committee with former Norse Stars Coach Nancy Bishop.

Last week the announcement from NEO to temporarily suspend the Norse Stars program for one year generated great interest.  As mentioned on the NEO website, the Athletic Department made the formation of a steering committee a top priority.

Athletic Director Dale Patterson appointed Grover and Bishop to oversee the process.  Grover was selected due to his deep ties to the College and the family history he has with the Norse Stars. Grover’s two sisters danced with the Norse Stars during their time at NEO, and his father has dedicated more than 45 years to the College.

Bishop said, “I am excited to be involved with NEO’s Norse Stars Steering Committee, and I am very much invested in the future of the Norse Stars program, which is so dear to me.”

Bishop coached the Norse Stars from 1984 – 2001.

“The Norse Stars continue to be an important part of NEO.  The committee will be looking at ways we can improve our recruiting efforts to help strengthen and enhance the program,” Grover said.  “As the men’s Basketball Head Coach, I want to see this program be as successful as it can be.  The presence of the Norse Stars has always been a vital part of our home athletic events, and all of us in the Athletic Department look forward to their return.”

Grover is in the process of contacting former Norse Stars and others to be involved in this committee.
