NEO Press Releases

Sodexo’s Executive Chef Eric Everett of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, (NEO) was recently diagnosed with two, large brain tumors and is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday, Aug. 13 to remove the tumors. Due to his recent diagnosis, Everett is passionate to create a national “Donate Your Hair to Show You Care Day,” even more so because he was already growing his own hair out to donate to the charitable organization Locks of Love prior to his diagnosis.

According to their website, Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. The prostheses provided help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

“I want to try to start this ‘Donate Your Hair to Show You Care Day,’ on August the 13th if all goes well, on an annual basis if possible since that will be the date of my operation,” Everett said. “My goal is to create something positive, and create hope for others from my misfortune.”

Everett said he believes self-esteem is so important for healing and feeling good about oneself. To be able to give children and others the confidence to keep going and heal would make it all worthwhile. He said he challenges others and corporate organizations to take part on Aug. 13
