The sixth annual Dixie Woodall Inspirational Award for Lady Norse Basketball was presented to Miss DeVaughn “Dee” Gray last night after the Lady Norse game against Seminole.
“DeVaughn Gray is an inspiration to me,” said Amy Ishmael, vice president of student affairs for NEO. “I enjoy watching her enthusiasm and dedication on the court.  Her personality and smile are contagious.  I cannot wait to see what the future has to hold for her.”

Gray is a 5’11” guard from Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She is the daughter of Retina Gray.

“Dixie Woodall is an inspiration to women’s basketball across the country, and we are privileged to have her associated with NEO,” said Jim Rowland, head coach for Lady Norse basketball.  “Each year we recognize a sophomore that exemplifies Dixie’s example of leadership, motivation and inspiration, and Dee is very deserving of this prestigious award. I am proud of Dee as a player, a student and an individual.”

Presenting the award to DeVaughn Gray were NEO’s Vice-President of Student Affairs, Amy Ishmael, Lady Norse Head Coach Jim Rowland and the namesake of the award, Miss Dixie Woodall, Vice-Chair of the NEO Foundation Board of Directors Anna Milligan and Executive Director of the Foundation, Jennifer Hessee.
