Faculty members from the English department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO), are pleased to announce the official release of a print edition of the department’s literature and art journal Portmanteau.
“The English department is happy to see a tradition revived of producing literary and artistic work that fosters creativity within our college community,” said Andrew Olson, English instructor. “The NEO community has seen previous installments of literary journals published, and the editors and students involved in the journal are excited to bring a new installment to fruition, and watch it grow.”
The journal will be published annually both in a digital online version and print version. The first volume of Portmanteau features more than 20 local artists, photographers, poets, and writers from the four-state region, alongside NEO students and staff and Miami residents. With the sponsorship and support of Chapters Bookstore, the Miami Arts and Humanities Council and NEO, the journal will be free with cash donations being accepted to fund future issues of the journal.
Copies of the journal can be picked up at Chapters in downtown Miami or in the Communications and Fine Arts Department on the third floor of Shipley Hall. The second volume of Portmanteau is currently under production and is scheduled to be published in early summer 2014.
Submissions from local artists, photographers, poets and writers for the third volume of Portmanteau will open again in the fall of 2014.
