Biography

Adam Compton grew up in California and attended Fresno State University where he earned his B.A. in Music Education. He then earned his Masters' degree from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, Missouri.

He has taught in the public schools in California and in Missouri with his bands receiving numerous awards during that time.  He began teaching at NEO in 2005. He currently directs the Norwegian Legion Marching Band as well as the Norse Sound.  He also teaches Music Theory and Sight Singing/Ear Training to the music majors at NEO. Under his direction, the NEO band program has grown each year. He has been a guest conductor, clinician, and judge in both the Midwest and on the West Coast.  Trumpet being his primary instrument; he has studied with Ritchie Clendennin, Paul Shagoian, Al Michaels, and Lyle Sparkman.  He also has had the priviledge of studying with Larry Sutherland, Gary P. Gilroy, Key Poulan, Allen Kristensen, Wade Johnson, and Christopher Nunez.

Adam currently resides in Miami, Oklahoma with his wife, Dawn, and his, Mason. The Compton Family also includes two dogs.

When he has free time, :) Adam is an avid football fan (Raiders), baseball fan (Giants), and hockey fan (Blues).  He is also a Drum Corps fan( no particular corps, just a good show). He is actively involved with his family and his church. He believes that there is always something to be learned.
