At NEO, you are not required, but are encouraged, to complete the following prior to Tribal Grant Application:

•  Complete the appropriate Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
•  Submit all other required documents to the NEO OFA. Upon receiving your FAFSA information, the OFA will send notification to you via email at your NEO email address of any other documents needed to complete your tribal agency form.

NEO OFA needs all requested documents before your needs analysis can be accurately completed and forwarded to the tribal agency office.

To facilitate the processing of your need analysis and tribal application, you should:

•  Submit the FAFSA before March 1 prior to the fall, spring and summer semesters for which you are applying to receive tribal financial assistance.
•  Submit all requested documentation and tribal/agency applications to the OFA at least 6 weeks prior to your tribal/agency deadline. If required forms are not submitted in a timely manner as prescribed, the OFA may not be able to complete the required applications by the tribal/agency deadline and your tribal agency aid may be in jeopardy.
•  Students should keep copies of all documents submitted to the OFA. Upon request, this office will date stamp your copies as an official receipt.

In order to assist you in obtaining grant funds, the OFA will process your tribal agency application on a priority basis once you have completed all the requirements listed above. It is your responsibility to initiate and complete the financial aid application process in time to meet your tribal agency deadline. Failure to do so may result in loss of funding. Contact your tribal agency for their specific deadline.
