Job Description


The Assistant Football Coach position is responsible to the Head Football Coach for assisting in the management of a varsity intercollegiate sports program and team. Specific responsibilities include coaching a position and carrying out and coordinating effective processes within the football program.


  • Coach and implement the plan and philosophy for that position group.
  • Responsible for preparing specific aspects of the game plan and scheme as delegated by the head coach.
  • Help develop the off-season program. Will assist Head Coach in the day-to-day operation of the program. Will be expected to become knowledgeable in our football program philosophy and plan.
  • Demonstrates an active interest in the academic progress of student athletes.
  • Assist with the coordination and overseeing of completed financial aid paperwork admission criteria and eligibility certifications.
  • Responsible for recruiting specific schools in the state of Oklahoma delegated by the Head Coach.
  • Prepare scouting reports.
  • Track and update student athletes’ progress.
  • Work proficiently with multiple computer software systems daily
  • Coordinate different areas of the football program assigned by the head coach and do so with great energy and enthusiasm
  • Instruct proper skills and skill development to student-athletes
  • Work under the supervision of the head coach
  • Keep an organized and proper workspace
  • Show up on time for scheduled meetings and events


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience in coaching
  • Ability to supervise assistant coaches
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including that for recruiting and video analysis
  • Experience in fundraising and developing community support for the program
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work weekends & evenings, and to travel
