Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a full-time position in Student Support Services (SSS) funded by the United States Department of Education to improve the persistence, graduation, and transfer rates of first-generation and income-eligible college students at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Administer program; analyze program operations/procedures; communicate with Dept of Education Program Officer to ensure compliance with federal requirements.
  • Authorize expenditures of federal funds; monitor budget.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate project services and activities to meet objectives.
  • Disseminate information and serve as project liaison to the college and the community about project services.
  • Select, hire, supervise, evaluate, and coordinate orientation and training for project staff.
  • Identify eligible participants and oversee the student selection process; conduct student interviews; develop strategies to encourage applications from individuals who are members of groups that have been traditionally under-represented.
  • Assure equal access to project services for all students.
  • Coordinate with college and community service providers to identify and access support services and resources not funded through the project to meet participants needs.
  • Promote participants’ success through academic, career, social/personal, financial and transfer counseling to individuals and groups of students in the project.
  • Ensure the individual progress of all participants is continuously monitored and tracked; document participant success and attainment of project objectives.
  • Enter project data and provide database administration; compile statistical and narrative data; ensure data is accurate and complete; prepare ongoing reports to monitor progress; provide annual performance reports for the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Update and maintain program policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree required in administration, educational leadership, counseling, social work, education, or similar field.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in designing/managing SSS or similar program for at-risk students required.
  • At least two years’ experience working in higher education, community college preferred with one year in student advising.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and community.
  • Prior TRIO experience with background similar to SSS eligible participants preferred.
  • Experience in writing and managing federal grants preferred.
  • Prior experience with management of staff, budgets and federal projects preferred.
