The Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College rodeo teams attended the Colby Community College Rodeo in Colby, Kansas on September 12-14. At the competition, the men’s team placed first in the junior college division.
At the rodeo, Lucas Peterson won the average in steer wrestling, split fifth and sixth place in calf roping, and won the Men’s All-Around. Tanner Scheevel competed in calf roping where he placed third, and steer wrestling where he finished fourth. Cooper Fowler split seventh place in calf roping, Treydon Larmon and Gus Albertson took home third place in the average in team roping, and Layni Masters placed fourth in breakaway roping in the long go-around.
“The Colby rodeo was a huge success for the men’s team to come out as the overall Men’s Team Champions,” said NEO Rodeo head coach Kolby Ungeheuer. “It’s hard for junior college teams to pull off team championships. It’s a win we are really excited about that will give us a confidence boost. Both teams have put a lot of hard work into being ready for this early part of the season and it’s definitely paying off.”
The next rodeo on the NEO schedule is the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo. The teams will head to Durant, Oklahoma to compete on September 26-28.For more information, please contact Kolby Ungeheuer at kolby.ungeheuer@neo.edu or 918-540-6480.
