Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced Bo Reese as the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Alumnus award. Representing the College of Human Environmental Sciences, Reese will be formally honored during the Alumni Awards luncheon on Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon in the Calcagno Family Ballroom. All alumni and friends of the college are invited to attend. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. To purchase a ticket or for more information, please contact the NEO Development Foundation office at 918-540-6115. NEO’s homecoming festivities take place Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. This year’s homecoming theme is “NEO Superheroes in Disguise.”

A Miami native and graduate of Miami High School, Reese studied computer science at NEO and received his associate’s degree in 1990. While at NEO, he was active in the Computer Science Club and served as Student Body Government Senator at Large and Sophomore Class Representative.  After attending NEO, he transferred to Oklahoma State University and received his bachelor’s degree in university studies with an emphasis in computer science.

In 2014, Gov. Mary Fallin appointed Reese as state government’s chief information officer (CIO).  As the chief officer, he oversees the information technology services of all state agencies. Prior to his appointment, Reese was chief operations and accountability officer for the Information Services Division at the Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services. “It is a privilege to honor Bo Reese as one of our outstanding graduates,” said Jennifer Hessee, executive director of the NEO Development Foundation. “With a very impressive career in information technology, Bo is a shining example of a former student who has risen through the ranks and achieved much success.”

Reese’s professional experience also includes 13 years with the Oklahoma State and Education Employees Group Insurance Board. He served in the capacity of CIO and deputy administrator of operations. During his tenure, he was responsible for the daily operations to administer self-insured health, life, dental and disability benefits plans for employees and retirees of eligible Oklahoma employers, ensure effective operational controls with the guidelines of state and federal policies, and oversaw several divisions including HealthCare Management, Information Technology, Member Services, Provider Relations, and TPA Management Divisions. Reese married Lori Sapp of Miami in 1991. They have two children, Jamie and Alex.
