Originally from Zellik, Belgium, Mununga played for the 2017-2019 Lady Norse Basketball team. During her time at NEO, she was a two-time All-American and two-time All-Region II player. She also ranked third in career points with 1,035, first in rebounds with 795, first in rebounding average at 13.0, and first in career double-doubles with 47.

“Playing at NEO under Coach Rowland was a great experience,” said Mununga. “I learned so much, not only about the game but myself as well. He put me in situations where I could overcome challenges or choose to suffer from them. I chose to overcome them and that made me the person and player I am today. Once a Norseman, always a Norseman.”

Mununga competed with the Belgium National Team at the 2017 FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship where she averaged 9.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Following her time at NEO, Mununga played for the University of South Florida, where she acquired numerous athletic and academic honors.

“Bethy was a great player for us and was a phenomenal rebounder,” said NEO Women’s Basketball head coach Jim Rowland. “You can teach rebounding and blocking out, but it is 95% effort, and Bethy had that and then some. Playing in the Olympics is a great honor and very exciting for her. Anytime you are representing your country at the highest level is very special.”

Belgium National Team’s first game at the 2024 Olympics is set for July 29 at Pierre Mauroy Stadium at 6:30pm CST against Germany. The full Paris Olympic Games schedule is available online. https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/schedule/grid.
