The Athletic Department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) is pleased to announce that Eric Iverson, NEO softball head coach, had his 900th win on Tues., Feb. 23 in the victory over Neosho County. Iverson is in his 21st season as head coach of the NEO softball program. He has compiled an overall record of 900-198, had seven Region II Championships, and seven National Tournament appearances. During his tenure, Iverson’s teams have been ranked in the top 20 of the NJCAA national poll 19 times. In 2015, NEO celebrated the renovation of the softball complex and named the facility “Iverson Field at Alumni Stadium”. This same year, the Lady Norse capped the season off with an outstanding showing in the NJCAA National Tournament with a record of 51-16 and the National Runner-Up title.

“NEO is very fortunate to have someone like Eric Iverson on our staff,” said Dale Patterson, NEO athletic director. “You have a coach with experience and expertise that is second to none, but more importantly you have a man of great character and integrity. He (Iverson) was hoping that we would ignore this milestone, because he is not about drawing attention to himself. He focuses on the players and their accomplishments and has built successful programs in both softball and volleyball because of his commitment to excellence. He produces exceptional teams and extraordinary athletes. Again, we at NEO are very proud to have him on our team.”

The Lady Norse softball team will be at home on Sunday, Feb. 28 against Iowa Western. Game times will be at noon and 2 p.m. Before the game, NEO will host a ceremony to honor Coach Iverson. On Sat., March 5, the Lady Norse will have their first conference game of the season against NOC-Tonkawa. Game times will be 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The community is invited to come out, tailgate and support Iverson and the Lady Norse team.
