On Thursday, Jan. 22 at 12 p.m., Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) will tipoff for the 70thAnnual NEO High School Basketball Tournament. There are 48 teams from three states participating in this basketball tradition with thousands of fans attending to cheer on their favorite players and teams. The NEO 70th Annual High School Basketball team will be Thursday, Jan. 22, Friday, Jan. 23, and Saturday Jan. 24, 2014. The tournament will be played in four different facilities, NEO College Gym (COL) and NEO Student Activity Center (SAC), which are both located on the NEO Campus. Other locations include the Miami Activity Center (MAC), which is located on the campus of the Miami High School and the Miami Civic Center (CC) located on A Street. A complete listing of brackets, times and locations will be made available at a later time.
Tickets are available at any of the locations listed above. All tournament passes may be purchased for $20 for adults and/or students. The “all-tournament” pass will allow fan to attend any of the games in any of the locations for all three days of the tournament. Tickets can also be purchased in advance at the Business Office.
“This tournament is a great tradition at NEO, and an opportunity to bring the community together and watch some exciting games. This year we have some new teams participating for the first time, such as Norman North. We also have some returning champions in all three brackets, so we’re looking forward to three days of great basketball,” said Dale Patterson, NEO tournament director.
More than 2,500 players, coaches and fans are estimated to attend the tournament. Many of these visitors will stay in Miami hotels, eat at various restaurants and frequent the shops.
