The NEO Livestock Judging Team traveled to Denver, Colo. over winter break to compete in the National Western Stock Show. The century old show is considered one of the preeminent tourist destinations in Colorado and boasts over 650,000 attendees each year. The NEO team claimed tenth high team in the nation at the event.
Judgers competed in four divisions: beef, sheep/goats, swine, and reasons against 26 teams comprised of 126 individuals. The team also claimed fifth high overall in the reasons category. In addition to the team success, Cagney Effling, a sophomore from Highmore, South Dakota, placed high individual overall in the beef category.
Members on the team include Effling, Corey Pell from Chouteau, Okla., Alexa Montagne from Elk Point, S.D., Stetson Eshcenbaum from Lake Preston, S.D., Kassidy Fletcher from Fortville Ind., Grant Hubbard from Miami, Okla., Sarah Harris from Buchanan, Va., and Abby Spindle from Stanley, N.M.
