Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College will formally honor Josh Maxson during the Outstanding Alumni Banquet on Saturday, Oct 21, at 11am in the Calcagno Family Ballroom.

Maxson grew up on his family’s ranch in Miami, Oklahoma. He attended Miami High School and was involved in baseball and showing and judging livestock. He attended NEO from 1996 to 1998, graduating with an associate degree in journalism. He also worked for the Norse Wind and in sports information under Monty Franks.

After NEO, he transferred to Oklahoma State University, where he worked as a student assistant in the media relations department for three years. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and landed an internship in sports information with the University of Nebraska Football program for two seasons.

After his internship, Maxson began working as the assistant sports information director for the University of Miami and spent two years there. Wanting to move closer to home, he took a job with the University of Arkansas, where he worked with the baseball, golf, and football teams for three years.

Maxson made his final move in 2007. He has worked in the University of Alabama for 16 years, serving as the Assistant Athletics Director for Football Communications for the last nine seasons.

During his time in sports information, Maxson worked with six national championship football teams and in 11 National Championship games. He promoted three Heisman Trophy winners and 11 finalists, 64 individual national award-winning athletes, 63 first-team All-Americans, three National Championship golf teams, and 21 college football bowl games.

In 2014, Maxson earned his master’s degree in sports business administration from the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Jana, have one son, and they reside in Alabama.

All alumni and friends of the college are invited to attend the banquet. Tickets are $25 and $15 (children 12 and under). Purchase tickets at the door or online. neo.edu/homecoming
