The Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) was again named at Five-Star Chapter at the Regional Convention in Little Rock, Ark. The international honor society PTK ranks its chapters from one to five stars, depending on their level of campus, local, regional, and international accomplishment. The Five-Star Chapter is the highest ranking a chapter can receive. In addition to the Five-Star Chapter designation, NEO PTK also earned several other honors. PTK International recognized the Mu Chapter for their work with C4 or the Community College Completion Corps. This program aims to help students prepare and set goals to complete college on time.

The Mu Chapter was also named the region’s Most Distinguished Chapter and earned a Top Five designation in the Honors-in-Action and College Projects. Several individuals were also honored at the convention. Mu Chapter Vice President of Leadership Daniel Hocker was named as one the Top Five Chapter Officers. Freshman John Barger was also elected as the president of the Oklahoma/Arkansas Region for 2016-17. In addition to students, NEO alumnae Cheryl Fox was elected as president of the Alumni Association. Fox joins NEO alums Chong Lee and Candy Watson on the alumni officer team. PTK now prepares for the International Convention in National Harbor, Md. in April.
