Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) will host a Farewell, Tribute, and Softball Fundraiser honoring retiring Coach Eric Iverson on July 31, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. Iverson is set to retire after 26 years as head coach, 30 years with NEO, and over 1,100 wins, the most in NEO history.

“Coach Iverson has been the main reason for the notoriety of NEO softball over the past twenty-five years,” said Athletic Director Joe Renfro. “Not only has he built a nationally recognized team, but he has worked to ensure his athletes are well-rounded, educated, and successful individuals.”

During his tenure, Coach Iverson coached 48 seasons between softball, volleyball, and baseball. In that time, Iverson noted, softball has grown to one of the biggest sports in the nation. The 2021 Women’s College World Series (WCWS) NCAA Softball Championship notched its highest viewership ever, with an average of 1.8 million viewers during the championship series. While Iverson will be transitioning away from coaching, he plans to remain involved in NEO Athletics as a Development Officer focused on program fundraising. NEO recently announced that Bailey Burnett will take the helm of the program.

The Farewell, Tribute, and Softball Fundraiser will take place in the Calcagno Family Ballroom and a social hour will begin at 4:30 p.m. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and seating is limited. RSVP to Lisa Severe at lsevere@neo.edu or 918-540-6327 by July 22.
