The Athletic Department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) is receiving significant interest from NCAA universities regarding one of Lady Norse Basketball’s rising stars: the 6’2” post from Brussels, Belgium, Hatty Nawezhi. “Hatty is the type of player that every coach wants on their team, at any level,” said Jim Rowland, head coach for the Lady Norse. “She is tall, athletic, strong, and determined. She handles the ball extremely well for a post player, able to shoot from inside or out, blocks shots, and rebounds.”neo-lady-norse-basketball-2016-2017-10 Last season as a freshman, Nawezhi averaged 11 points per game, nine rebounds, and was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the Region II Tournament. As a sophomore, NEO will continue to rely on her performance. Coaches from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, and Missouri are just a few of the NCAA teams that have been attending NEO practices to follow Nawezhi through the season. “I am very happy to meet these coaches and to find out about their programs and universities, but sometimes it is a little overwhelming,” said Nawezhi. “Right now, the team and I are focusing on the season and what we have to do to win the conference again. After that, we will concentrate on the Region Tournament and then Nationals. Then I can focus on going to the next level.” For a complete listing of all NEO Basketball games, please check out www.neoathletics.com
