Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced Rachel Pickens as the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. The Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet and Alumni Reception, originally scheduled during homecoming weekend, have been postponed to a date to be determined next spring in light of the ever-changing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pickens is originally from the East Coast and grew with a passion for agriculture and helping others. Pickens graduated from NEO in 2006 with an Associate’s Degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Psychology and Sociology. She then continued her education at Oklahoma State University majoring in Animal Science with an emphasis in Business. Pickens credits her education at NEO and said being able to major in two different areas helped to bring both of her passions together. Pickens began her career while at OSU by becoming the Auction Coordinator for Picken’s Auctions, where she sold more than 30,000 acres. In 2013 she became known as “The Oklahoma Land Lady,” and began her own practice in 2018.

Outside of work Pickens is involved in many organizations including the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, Diamond Hats Club, National Cattlewomen’s Association, Oklahoma Agritourism Association, Oklahoma Auctioneers Association and the National FFA Alumni. She serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Stillwater and is as an Ambassador for the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.   For more information please contact Shelby Saul at 918-540-6211 or Shelby.saul@neo.edu.
