Officials at NEO held a formal induction for the NEO Fine Arts Hall of Fame on Friday, March 4, in the Charles Banks Wilson Art and Cultural Education Center. Susan Wright Mogilka, Ted Watts, Michael J. Barnes, and Melissa Dill-Behnke were inducted based on their achievements in the arts after leaving NEO. Dr. Jeff Hale delivered the keynote address. The inaugural class of the NEO Fine Arts Hall of Fame included Charles Banks Wilson, Dr. Nick Calcagno, Dr. Robert (Doc) Swanson, Jerold Graham, David Froman, and Earl Clark. All received both regional and national acclaim, with Dr. Calcagno and Charles Banks Wilson having work displayed in the Smithsonian.
“I don’t know how many small towns can boast the talent NEO has been able to produce in our inaugural class, but I know there aren’t many,” said Dr. Hale in his keynote. “Tonight’s honorees are valuable additions to an already outstanding Hall of Fame.”
The honorees plaques will now join the inaugural class in Commons Hall. For a complete album from the event, visit Facebook.com/gogoneo. Once again, the NEO Fine Arts Department would like to congratulate all of the honorees for their extraordinary contributions to their fields.
