The Native American Student Association (NASA) at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) will host a tribal scholarship workshop and fair on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. in the Calcagno Family Ballroom on the NEO campus. Mr. Cedric Sunray will deliver a workshop “The College Hustle” at the event. Sunray is an educator specializing in issues affecting Indian Country. He is an alumnus of Haskell Indian Nations University, the University of Kansas, and the University of Oklahoma, focusing on Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Peoples Law. During his lecture, Sunray will share the realities of the underrepresentation of Native students among scholarship recipients and give students information to help them be successful in their pursuit of scholarships. “Cedric is an amazing individual and has such a connection with the students he meets,” said Hannah Berryman, American Indian Center for Excellence (AICE) coordinator. “It is important to share scholarship information with our students as soon as possible to ensure that they complete their education.” Along with Mr. Sunray’s presentation, several tribal representatives will be available to discuss the scholarships their tribes offer. For more information, contact Berryman at hannah.berryman@neo.edu or 918-540-6144.
