Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced Michael Kelsey as the recipient for this year’s Outstanding Alumnus Award from the School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. The Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet and Alumni Reception, originally scheduled during homecoming weekend, have been postponed to a date to be determined next spring in light of the ever-changing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kelsey grew up in Rush Springs, Okla. and attended Rush Springs High School. He graduated in 1988 and began his journey at NEO shortly after. Kelsey came to NEO on a livestock judging scholarship and majored in Animal Science/Pre-Vet. While NEO, Kelsey was very involved in the Animal Science and Pre-Vet clubs and was also Student Body Government President his sophomore year.

After graduating from NEO in 1990, Kelsey transferred to Oklahoma State University. While at OSU, he decided Pre-Vet was not the career he wanted and finished pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science.

Upon graduation, Kelsey began his career with the Texas Extension Service before moving back home to Oklahoma. Kelsey now serves as the Executive Vice President for the Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association. He currently resides in Tecumseh with his wife of 27 years, Tonya, and their four children.
