Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) recently unveiled the 2014 homecoming date that is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014. This year’s theme, “There’s No Place Like Homecoming” was selected by a committee comprised of alumni, faculty, staff and students. The theme was inspired by “The Wizard of Oz.” “Our alumni consider NEO their ‘home,’ so this year’s theme appropriately states the way they feel about coming back to campus,” said Lisa Severe, chair of the homecoming committee. “Homecoming traditions include an alumni banquet where we honor outstanding NEO alums, the crowning of our new NEO king and queen, the parade around campus, and of course the highlight of the week is the Golden Norse football game against Navarro.”
Homecoming activities will “Kickoff to Oz” on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Library Administration building. The NEO band will perform, special appearances by Dorothy and the other cast from “The Wizard of Oz” and then the third annual event of turning the fountain blue. The community is invited to attend. NEO’s full schedule of events for the week of homecoming will be released in the near future.
