Miami, Okla. – Wednesday, December 8, 2021 – Officials from the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Agriculture Department and rodeo team awarded three scholarships at the 12th Annual NEO Alumni/Recruiting Rodeo, with a two-year tuition scholarship, valued at $5,000 provided by the NEO Rodeo Foundation, going to Mason Appleton, High Point Winner from Copan, Okla. The rodeo took place on Nov. 20 and hosted hundreds of high school and alumni contestants.
The day began with long rounds in several events, and the top six competitors in the high school and alumni divisions made the short round which started at 7 p.m. Students in NEO Agriculture programs worked concessions, prepared the arena, and operated gates.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with the great turnout at our 12th Annual NEO Alumni/Recruiting Rodeo,” said Kolby Ungeheuer, NEO Rodeo Coach. “I am so grateful for the outstanding support from our NEO alumni and high school recruits. We had another record year, with more than 150 high school recruits and roughly 200 alumni competing, and numerous alumni in attendance. It was a great day of top-notch rodeo competition from contestants all over the country. Our current students did an outstanding job hosting the rodeo and I can’t thank all of our sponsors and volunteers enough for all they do each and every year to make this event happen.”
In addition to Appleton’s two-year tuition scholarship, NEO also provided two $500 book scholarships to Emma Ricke from Lawton, Iowa and Bryce Eck from Redfield, Kan.
