The Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College theatre experience program will host auditions from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 19, and Monday, February 20, 2023, for the famous Sondheim musical, Into the Woods.

Auditions are open to the public and will be held in the NEO Fine Arts Center. All ages are welcome to audition, but preference will go to current NEO students and area high school students interested in live stage production or performance.

Performers are encouraged to prepare 45 seconds from a song of their choice to showcase their talent and range. Bring prerecorded accompaniment or sing a Capella.

Crew positions will also be assigned at auditions. Young people who want to learn more about theatre will have an opportunity to train firsthand in lighting, sound, set design, props, costumes, and makeup.

“NEO Theatre provides a creative space where people can grow,” said NEO Theatre coordinator Aaron Smith. “We love theatre. We love performing and making it all work. Everyone contributes to the creative process. Everyone learns new information and develops new skills.”

Students planning to attend NEO in the fall may use their audition to qualify for theatre scholarships. NEO Theatre is a co-curricular, non-degree program available to students of any major.

Into the Woods performances are in the NEO Fine Arts Center May 4-6, 2023, at 7:30 p.m., and May 7, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for teens. Admission is free for NEO students, employees, and Presidential Partners.
