Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinate the development, implementation, and assessment of the Scholars for Excellence in Child Development Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop the annual grant proposal and budget as required by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
  • Oversee the administration and adherence of grant requirements, including developing the grant budget.
  • Maintain all required documentation and submission of program expenditures.
  • Recruitment of potential students within a multi-county area for enrollment in Child Development/ Early Childhood Education coursework toward certificate or associate degree work with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
  • Provide assistance in the enrollment and financial aid process, academic advisement, and technical assistance to scholarship recipients.
  • Administer college placement tests as needed.
  • Act as the proctor for tests as needed.
  • Develop a program plan for each scholar.
  • Develop a mentoring plan for each program scholar.
  • Mentor program scholars at their worksite or appropriate location.
  • Tutor or arrange for tutoring for program scholars.
  • Refer scholars to other college support or community services.
  • Assist program scholars with skills to ensure likelihood of program success.
  • Serve as the liaison between the scholar and faculty.
  • Provide program and participant information on a semester basis.
  • Maintain scholar files.
  • Attend and provide promotional materials to all partners and licensing staff at regular or quarterly meetings.
  • Assist potential scholars with the SECC and college applications.
  • Assist scholars with completing their FAFSA applications.
  • Collect the scholarship documentation required and submit all required forms to OSRHE via OSAFE.
  • Assist the scholars with obtaining their course book every semester.
  • Maintain Regular contact with college faculty that are currently working with scholars to determine progress through course work, potential problems, attendance, etc. and follow up on any problems or concerns with the scholar.
  • Refer scholars to other college offices such as placement testing, tutoring, disability, offices, etc.
  • Maintain all scholar progress notes in the Scholarship Tracker.
  • Conduct semester visits with scholars to assist with retention.
  • Assist OSRHE and college staff in obtaining semester grades
  • Provide statistical information to OSRHE as needed.
  • Complete and submit annual reports to OSRHE.
  • Travel extensively in surrounding areas.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Early childcare industry experience or related field
