Job Description
Position Summary
The Miami News Record in Miami OK is hiring a part-time intern. The Miami News Record is a Tuesday and Friday paper and has been extremely involved in the community. The News Record is a family run newspaper owned by Phillip and Jeanne Ann Reid of Weatherford and Reid Newspapers also owns 14 small town newspapers in Oklahoma.
Interns will be given the opportunity to see various insights of newspaper design, photography, news, marketing, and advertising. It has been the goal of the newspaper to foster emerging journalists with appreciations of the value and opportunities in community journalism.
Essential Functions
- Produce content for websites, press deadlines, and social media platforms
- Assist with news research reporting, and publication of meetings, community events, and general assignments
- Responsive to learning new tasks and possess great communication skills
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Education – High School Diploma
- No felony convictions
- Work a minimum of 20 hours per week
