Our Story
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, is the largest honor society in higher education with 1,285 chapters on college campuses in all 50 of the United States, plus Canada, Germany, the Republic of Palau, Peru, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the British Virgin Islands, the United Arab Emirates and U.S. territorial possessions. More than 3 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 134,000 students inducted annually.
Our Mission
The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.
Our Chapter
Mu Chapter was founded at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 1926. We are the first chapter outside of PTK’s home state of Missouri, and the second oldest continually-active chapter in the world.
Eligibility
To be eligible for membership in Mu Chapter, a student shall
- hold a 3.5 GPA or better at 12 credit hours at this institution. These credit hours must qualify for an associate degree.
To remain in good standing with Phi Theta Kappa, one must
- maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. If a member falls below a 3.0 GPA, he or she has one semester to raise his or her GPA to a 3.0 or better. Failure to do so will lead to the dropping of a member’s name from the local chapter roll and the international roll and all membership privileges will be revoked.
