The Pre-Elementary Education program is designed to prepare students for transfer into an Elementary Education program at a four-year college or university. Students who complete the requirements for the Pre-Elementary Education program at NEO A&M College are awarded an Associate in Arts degree.

A degree in Elementary Education prepares graduates for certification to teach grades 1 through 6. Students can also focus on certification in special education.

Elementary education programs at four-year colleges and universities have specific admission requirements, which vary by the institution. These requirements may include the student’s grade point average, scores on a pre-entrance exam and courses completed. Students must make formal application for admission to an elementary education program.

NEO advisors will assist students in developing a plan of study that best fits the student’s transfer plans. Students are encouraged to seek advisement from the four-year college or university for which they plan to attend prior to transfer.
