The NEO Adult Learning Center is your first stop on the way to obtaining your High School Equivalency. We offer free GED and HiSET Prep classes to aid you in improving your academic skills in Math, Language Arts, etc. to assist you in obtaining your High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate.
Life happens, so if you never received your high school diploma, you can still earn a state-issued high school equivalency credential, which you can use to advance your career, join the military, begin a training program, or continue your education. Passing the GED or HiSET test proves you have the same academic knowledge and proficiency as a high school graduate. Once you pass, the state of Oklahoma will issue you a high school equivalency credential, which will help you move your life in new and exciting directions.
Testing Options
Many people are unaware that Oklahoma recognizes another test along with the GED test. That test is the HiSET test, which is a viable option for receiving your High School Equivalency. There are many differences between the two tests, but they basically cover the same information and will provide you with what you need to receive your HSE. Click here for our GED vs HiSET handout to help you make your decision. At our testing center, the major difference is that the GED test is a computer-based test and HiSET is a paper/pencil test.
Academic Skills – HSE prep classes
- Our Academic Skills-HSE prep classes are open to those 18 years of age or older.
- If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you may attend with a signed and notarized release form from your parent/guardian and the local school district. For students 16 or 17 years of age, registration for the GED or HiSET test requires a completed form (download here) or at our office, Dyer Hall, Rm 218. They must be turned in at our office or to their teacher for them to be released from this requirement for both class attendance and GED or HiSET test registration.
- The educational skill level of each participant is assessed at the beginning of class. We then use one-on-one tutoring, whole-class instruction, and computer programs tailored to meet your needs.
- Classes are offered in Delaware and Ottawa counties. Give us a call today and check us out!
