Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC)

This program provides nutrition services to pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women. Nutrition Services from birth to age 5.

What to expect at WIC appointment:
  • Health assessment
  • Dietary evaluation
  • Nutrition education
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Food instruments
  • Referral for additional health care as needed

Children First

Nurses provide personal, one-on-one care to you and your baby during your first pregnancy and the first two years of your child’s life.

Children First Eligibility:
  • Pregnant women less than 28 weeks pregnant
  • Families expecting their first child
  • Families with little financial or social support
What to expect with Children First program:
  • Weekly visits during the first month
  • Every other week visits until delivery
  • Weekly visits during the first six weeks after delivery
  • Month visits until the children turns two years old

SoonerStart

This program is for infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays. The program also provides newborn hearing screening. Check with the local health department about times available for hearing screenings.
