Cost of Attendance

2024-2025 School Year

The cost of attendance is NOT what you will be charged to attend NEO but is the average cost to attend school for the full academic year. Your actual cost may be more or less than the average cost, depending on a variety of factors. Cost of attendance includes direct costs (the school will charge you for them), like tuition, fees, books, etc.; and indirect costs (the school will NOT charge you for them), such as transportation and personal expenses.

The cost of attendance (COA) is used to determine how much need-based financial aid a student may receive. The formula is as follows:

Cost of Attendance – Expected Family Contribution4 – Other financial aid = Need
4From your FAFSA application

Example:
$21,030 – ($1455 – $2500) = $17,075
This student is an Oklahoma resident living on campus. They would be eligible for $17,075 in need-based financial aid.

Need-based aid includes the following:

  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
  • Scholarships offered by NEO
  • Oklahoma’s Promise Scholarship
  • Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG)
  • Tribal Scholarships
  • Any other scholarships offered by a third party

Non-Need based aid includes the following:

  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
  • Alternative/Private student loan

All aid from all sources may not exceed the student’s cost of attendance if they are receiving any federal financial aid.
