Extracurricular activities

NEO Agriculture provides many groups and teams for students to learn and compete at the highest level.

Horse Judging Team

The horse judging team is a co-curricular activity where students compete in national intercollegiate contests. The team travels to many of the most notable Horse and Livestock shows in the country. The team is composed of students who are interested in learning more about horses and improving their speaking ability and decision-making skills. Scholarships are available to competitive participants.

Rodeo

The NEO Rodeo Program gives students the opportunity to compete in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). Approximately 10 rodeos are held in the fall and spring in which students compete for points within the Central Plains Region (KS, OK).

Learn from veteran coaching staff that have a history of developing students, both in the arena and in the classroom. Our CNFR (College National Finals Rodeo) qualifiers have been successful, winning national championships and setting new arena records. Scholarships for outstanding students may include tuition, books, and room fee waivers. Team members and other students may also board their horses on the NEO College Farm. NEO’s Rodeo Team has access to indoor and outdoor practice facilities.

Livestock Judging Team

NEO is proud of its long-standing and successful livestock judging program. Our program has been built upon years of accomplishments and awards. This has allowed both the team and the College to maintain a high national profile. Many members of the NEO Livestock Judging Team have gone on to be master breeders and livestock industry leaders.

Workout stops include seeing some of the nation’s best livestock and meeting many of the master breeders and top managers at the country’s elite livestock operations. Most judging team members at NEO elect to continue their education at a four-year institution. Members are actively recruited by four-year institution coaches to participate in their judging programs. Students are actively encouraged to participate on the livestock judging team regardless of major, and the skills gained as a result will benefit any career.

Collegiate Farm Bureau

The Oklahoma Collegiate Farm Bureau program allows members of Farm Bureau, between the ages of 18 and 35, to be involved in their local communities, compete in contests, and develop lasting friendships with people from across the state and country. The NEO Collegiate Farm Bureau allows students to join events coordinated by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Students who join the program have the opportunity to travel throughout the state and nation, attend commodity tours, and stay up-to-date on the issues facing Oklahoma and American agriculture.

Aggie Society

NEO’s Aggie Society includes any student, no matter the major, who has a passion for agriculture. This club is one of the largest on campus and is heavily involved with Student Body Government Activities, community service events, cookouts, homecoming, and much more. This club sponsors its annual showmanship competition, “The Aggie Western,” which holds a rich tradition within NEO. This is where students can show off their livestock showing abilities and compete head to head with their fellow classmates for species and overall winners.

Ag Ambassadors

The Agriculture Ambassadors Leadership Program helps students develop leadership skills as they represent NEO’S Agriculture Department. These are outstanding students who are selected to recruit for and promote the department at various college, state, and national events.

Ag Ed Club

NEO has a rich history of producing decades of quality agriculture educators. NEO’s Ag Ed Club participates in numerous events including homecoming, Ag in the Classroom, community service events, workshops and more. We strive to instill passion, knowledge, and experience in the next esteemed generation of agriculture educators.
